Are you there?

We finally made it out to OKC and are in the process of getting settled in our new house. I'm a long way from wanting to share photos of anything with you. The rooms are still mostly full of boxes and miscellaneous items that don't have a home yet. We need to go furniture shopping and pick out a few things to finish out the main floor and make it "livable", but we have to start back to work tomorrow, so we may have to put it off until this weekend.

(This is for LENA, here are some of our ideas...)

The drive out was fairly uneventful, and passed quickly and with a pitiful meow soundtrack. Those kitties were HATING life on the road, but seem to be settling into the new house quite nicely.

Yesterday was CRAZY. We got up early and met all the important peeps at our closing. They handed us our keys (after signing BILLIONS of pieces of paper!) and after that we immediately headed over to the house with our truck and several helpers. (A shout out to Alex and crew, you guys were AWESOME!)

They managed to empty the truck in a little over 3 hours and we spent the rest of the day trying to make sense of all the boxes. Tim also had a little run-in with the ramp on the moving truck and it ended with him getting a couple black eyes and a swollen nose. (eeep!) Poor guy... He looks much better today and the swelling has gone down. Our official story is that he's a ruffian and he got in a bar fight with a guy named Penske.

Before sundown, a parade of family members and neighbors stopped by to congratulate us and before we knew it, we had an impromptu backyard party happening. Never ones to turn down a party, we busted out drinks and plastic cups and made with the merriment. We had a minor incident where we THOUGHT Daisy had escaped and had the whole party searching for her, only to find her IN A BOX in Tim's office. Crazy cat. :) Oh, and not to be outdone, Cleo decided it would be a good idea to attack our nephew, Jeffrey (age 3), after he enthusiastically patted her on her head. It was traumatic for all parties involved. He wasn't REALLY hurt, but he was pretty scared.

All our neighbors are really friendly and nice, and in general, we both have a great feeling about the neighborhood. We haven't checked out many of the local restaurants, but we have driven past lots of promising ones that we can't wait to check out.

We are both missing Denver, and especially all our friends. We were both emotional on the drive out, and it's been a little bittersweet all around. Knowing that we are going back to visit in October definitely makes the transition easier to bear. Plus, we've got some great friends here in OKC. We spent some time hanging with Chris and Jessica (Chris has been friends with Tim since grade school and Jessica is Chris' girlfriend) who are just really awesome people. It's encouraging to know we've made this huge change, but we're landing in the open arms of our family and friends.

Well, that is all for now...I will have a lot more to share in the coming days, as well as posting pictures of the house as we get it set up.

* To all my Denver friends, especially my Westies, you guys are really tremendous. Thank you so much for all your help, love, and support during this time in our lives. You guys are what made Denver such a wonderful place to be and we'll miss you all more than you know. *

* and especially to Princess Consuela Bananahammock, I'll miss you so much and I want you to always remember, DON'T BRING THE BUTLER! *

I'm so glad this is happening for you guys. And you are so right, going through a big transition like this is rough, but you have family to help you out and Tim knows OKC. I'm not a fan of the big moves to strange cities where you don't know a single soul (that's how all my moves have been).

Oh my goodness...two days later before I respond. I love you both so much!!! I miss you terribly already.

About your ideas on the house...that storage bench is a good idea but that style is too arts and crafts/craftsman, the clifton console was my favorite media cabinet, the flokati rug is fun..and both other rugs were nice as well. I'd like to see one of the more traditional styled rugs with the contemporary furniture...mixes with the house style well, love all the girly posters for your office, the capiz mirror is nice, I can see that in the entry, the harvest mirror, although adorable, does not look like the right scale. You have a big house now, and so the pieces need to be bigger so the walls don't swallow them. Loved the bedding, it was romantic and clean feeling...oh! and the boudoir chair...LOVED it. That could even go in the LR.

Did you get your welcome home card? I was trying to be your first piece of mail. :D mailed it before you left. :D

Again, I love you both TONS and hope to come visit soon. :D XOXOXO

Lena
